It’s fair to say Sony has dropped the ball more than a few times when it comes to PS3 firmware updates. Last week’s update (4.45) left many gamers with bricked systems. They could turn it on but the XMB failed to load. Well, shoot. There’s nothing worse than being game free for too long, so Sony has pushed out a patch today.
Firmware update 4.46 promises to fix this issue. You will have to put the PS3 into safe mode and load this new version manually. Sony has provided detailed instructions on their website.
