EA caught charging for demos

Demos are a great way to try out games to see if you like them. Normally before putting up your hard earned cash. However, some Xbox One users started to notice something rather odd about several demos from EA Sports. They were no longer free.

First spotted by a NeoGAF user, several demos for titles such as FIFA 2014 and UFC were priced at $4.99. Given the nature of the internet, the outrage is spreading like wildfire.

Speaking with Polygon, EA Australia stated that it was a pricing error and the problem was isolated to Xbox. PSN was not affected.

They have since fixed the problem and the demos are back to being free. It does seem rather strange though. Testing the waters for paid demos perhaps?
