PlayStation Mobile shutting down
PlayStation Mobile will be shutting down in July, with in-app purchases and re-downloads being discontinued…
UPDATE: Well, it was good while it lasted. After about a day, Sony has pulled access to these games. Apparently these were made available by mistake, so we’re back to the status quo antibellum. Bummer. Hopefully they do get added in the next store update. If you did download any of these games though, they will still work.
If you wished your Vita played more retro games, you’ve struck the mother-load.
Sony has added backwards compatibility to a whole host of PSP and PS1 games. This includes sought after favourites like Spiro, Grand Turismo PSP, the Sega Genesis Collection, Metal Gear Solid, and Portable Ops. Even PSP demos are included in this massive update.
If you have bought any PSP or PS1 games on another system, they will now show up in your downloads list.
Sony has yet to officially announce the changes. Nor has PSN been updated to make these games available for direct purchase from the Vita store.
We have confirmed that both Spiro and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night work. So those complaining the Vita has no games now have a whole wealth of retro content to revisit. Though I guess if you want something fresh, you’ll have to wait till Borderlands comes out next month.
