Just because you’re not having problems…

So Cyberpunk 2077 came out last week, and the launch on 8th gen consoles was a bit of a disaster to put it mildly. I’ve already written a couple pieces on that, so you can read those if you so fancy. What I want to address here though is the reaction from the community. Or rather the fan boys who are trying to claim they’re not having any issues whatsoever.

Well, that may very well be the case. For all intents and purposes, the game seems to run okay on PC. Though it does need some fairly beefy specs to really do it justice. Some are even claiming that they’ve had a positive experience with the Xbox One and PS4 versions. I say if it meets your satisfaction, go nuts.

Yet I’ve seen this same line cropping up in the comment sections of every YouTube video and Reddit thread I’ve seen on the subject. “Uhhh, achtually my game runs perfectly fine. I don’t know what you’re on about. You’re making it up for clout. You guys are just being entitled.” Or the go to nowadays, calling them “alt-right Nazis” for criticizing a multimillion dollar company, as Reddit was doing to The Quartering today.

Just because you aren’t experiencing issues, doesn’t mean that everyone else is just making it up. There’s a mountain of hard evidence pointing to Cyberpunk having major, widespread problems. Anecdotal reports on social media, reviews and benchmarks done by both the independent and mainstream games media, even CDPR themselves have admitted to it. It takes some serious mental gymnastics to deny all that.

This seems to happen every time anytime any remotely popular product ends up launching as complete trash. I get that people are passionate about brands and franchises, but let’s back the truck up here. If any games company, even a beloved games company, releases a broken game, people who bought it are right to be upset. These big corporations certainly don’t need you to act as their PR team to deflect criticism.
